From Pickleball to Product-Market Fit: Rediscovering My Drive
For the past few months, I have been completely immersed in pickleball. I approached it with the same intensity, focus, and obsession that I bring to everything I do. I trained like a proāwaking up at 5 AM, drilling, studying tape, refining my game, and optimizing my diet. While I never made the pro circuit, I became exceptionally good and, more importantly, healthier than ever.
What drew me to the sport was the strategy, the balance of power and finesse, and the relentless pace of competition. But what I took away most from this experience was the power of going all in.
After a decade running Cambridge Select, an Amazon-focused software-driven online shoe seller, I was burned out. The meteoric rise, the constant grind, and the eventual decision to walk away left me drained. Pickleball became the reset I needed. It rekindled my competitive fire and reminded me what it feels like to push for excellence.
The Shift to Building Again
What I know now more than ever is that product-market fit is everything. The key to a winning business isnāt just building a great productāitās creating something that sells effortlessly.
Most tech entrepreneurs fail not because of operational challenges but because they lack either product-market fit or a strong marketing system. Operations and product development come naturally to me, but dialing in sales and customer acquisition at scale is where the real challenge lies.
Since my last post, I have been actively building, writing, testing, and experimenting. Iāve dived deep into audience buildingāsomething that initially felt unnatural as an introvert but has quickly become engaging. I enjoy analyzing my Twitter and Substack metrics, seeing what resonates, and iterating.
I recently launched MVP Labs on Carrd and have published over ten Substack articles, the latest of which explores rapid MVP validation methods and building businesses online.
MVP Labs is designed to help founders:
- Validate ideas quickly
- Build MVPs fast using no-code and AI
- Find product-market fit without wasting months building something nobody wants
Whether itās SaaS, an AI-powered tool, or a digital product, the goal is to provide the best tools, frameworks, and strategies to go from idea to traction as fast as possible.
The Relentless Drive to Keep Building
This is the new phase of my journey: building, learning, iterating, and using AI to accelerate everything.
The same tenacity that drove me in pickleball is now fueling my pursuit of launching and scaling successful ventures. The drive to go all in, push the limits, and execute at a high level never fadedāit just needed the right outlet.
So I will keep building, testing, hacking, and refining. The game has changed, but the mindset remains the same.
Itās time to go pro againāthis time, in building businesses.
